I wonder if the current administration will have the guts to go into Somalia and remedy the current pirate situation? My guess would be - NO. Why not. Isn't it a lawless country now?
These ideas have probably been discussed somewhere, but; 1) why not use the un-manned armed drones to patrol the sea, 2) set up "bait ships" for the pirates to attack that are manned by military personnel. Imagine what a surprise that would be . . . 3) arm the crew with weapons so that they can defend themselves, and 4) blast any small vessel that comes near the tanker, etc.
Hillary has a four point solution?? to the problem, but as of 3:30pm CDT, 4-16-09, I have not heard it. Hope it does not include flowers or chocolate.
